hello! my name is sophie (they/them). i'm a wannabe goth covered in cat hair! i’m a writer, actor, producer across stage/screen! i’ve been compared to great weird men such as Yorgos Lanthimos and Mel Brooks! maybe one day I’ll be compared to….. a….. w…om…a…n………
as a screenwriter and filmmaker, I created three
films in three years under my Production Company Alien Butterfly, which focuses on fundraising
strategy for queer genre stories and accessible spaces. My first film POSSUM (actor/writer/producer) streamed on SHUDDER in partnership with
Access:Horror, where it won Best Short. It played festivals across the globe, including Final Girls Berlin (Queer Horror Audience Award) and Slamdance
where it was then invited to join the Unstoppable on the Road tour in art houses across the country. From there, I helped to create the feature film SINNER SUPPER CLUB (actor/producer) an improvised gay mumblecore ghost story shot in six days
on an iPhone (World Premiere SXSW).
I’m a past Screamwriting Fellowship nominee
(Blumhouse/Sundance), and am currently developing the feature film BUBBE & TAL alongside Daisy Rosato, whose proof of concept is on the festival circuit and just won Best Queer Short at Provincetown Film Fest, making it Academy Award® Qualifying. I’m also a
proud film festival screener for
Slamdance and Brooklyn Horror.
as a performer, most recently I starred in the short film Vanilla where I play a dog. I’ve also developed new theatrical works with The Bushwick Starr, The Public, Ars Nova, TFANA, LCT3, Williamstown,
Forestburgh Playhouse + more.
